Mercury Insurance Employees Send Care Packages to US Military in Afghanistan, Cambodia and on the USS San Diego on September 11th
September 11th is forever etched in all of our memories after the tragic events in 2001. It is also a time to honor the members of the military who’ve dedicated their lives to ensuring the safety of our country.
Today, Mercury Insurance sent a special thank you via care packages to active military personnel in Afghanistan, Cambodia and on the USS San Diego. More than 120 care packages were assembled at the sixth annual Mercury Insurance Packing Party for the Troops at the company’s Camarillo office.
Partnering with Mercury were members of the military from Naval Base Ventura County, along with agents and employees from Mercury’s Camarillo and Valencia offices, Valley Motor Center, Reseda Collision, Schiro’s Collision Repair, Jones & Maulding Insurance, Peakes Insurance, Krouse Insurance, Lytle Insurance, DiGerolamo Family Insurance, Gaspar Insurance, AIS insurance and Smith Insurance.
“Being away from home for such a long time can be difficult, especially when you don’t receive any mail. I know what it’s like to miss home while on duty,” said Stephanie Behnke, Mercury claims innovation director and a U.S. Army veteran. “We hope these care packages provide a little comfort while our troops are overseas.”
The packages contain items requested by active-duty soldiers, including toiletries, magazines, books, videos, card games and snacks. Accompanying these items are letters from the Packing Party co-founders and Mercury employees Melyssa Jones and Monica Nungaray.
